Ensemble Programme

Due to the uniqueness of the harp, Laura is aware that ensemble opportunities for young student harpists are rare. However, there are significant benefits to playing in an ensemble, not to mention it can be lots of fun!

To bridge this gap, Laura is thrilled to offer her students the chance to join a small chamber ensemble. The ensemble rehearses just once a month, keeping the workload for students manageable and the commitment for parents achievable. Participants will learn to play harp trio/quartet music, gain valuable ensemble skills and get the chance to perform.

Playing in a chamber ensemble…

  • …improves sight-reading and rhythm

  • …develops musicianship skills

  • …can prepare you to join a larger ensemble such as a school group or orchestra

  • …provides new repertoire to explore

  • …allows you to receive more personal feedback from the conductor/tutor (compared with a large ensemble)

  • …is a great chance to meet other young musicians and make new friends

  • … is FUN!

  • The minimum age to join is 10 years old, and students must have been learning the harp for at least six months.

  • Rehearsals are held in Croydon, Victoria

  • Rehearsals run for 90 minutes, and are held once a month on a Saturday morning. There will be approximately 10 or 11 rehearsals for the year, with at least one performance opportunity.

  • In 2025, participants can expect to pay between $400 to $480 for the year (dependant on the total number of rehearsals). These fees cover sheet music and tuition.

While this unique ensemble opportunity is currently available exclusively to harp students learning with Laura, if you are learning the harp from a different teacher and would be interested in joining a chamber ensemble as an extension opportunity, please submit an expression of interest form below.
